Detailed Description: What Is RotaCare?
Since 2013, the RotaCare West Contra Costa Free Clinic (previously RotaCare Richmond) has been providing free medical care to the uninsured and those unable to afford care. The clinic offers both telemedicine and in-person services.
Who do we serve?
We provide free medical care to those who need it most and have the least access—uninsured
adults, underserved women and immigrants.
What do we provide?
Urgent/Primary care treatment
Women’s health services
Pre-employment physicals
Referrals to minor surgery, lab, and x-ray services
Referrals to community resources
Diabetes, hypertension, and asthma management
Insurance access assistance
The clinic sees patients two evenings a week, usually five patients per clinician each session, but the number of patients each clinician sees is up to the clinician. Providers are empowered to take their time with each patient. We request that clinicians volunteer at least one evening each month. Every clinician is paired with a medical scribe for data entry into Athena EHR and a Spanish interpreter at every clinic session. All laboratory, imaging, and cardiology results are reviewed by the Medical Director, and follow up becomes the responsibility of RotaCare West Contra Costa. Positive studies are copied to the ordering physician as a courtesy.
Come! You can have a big impact.
RotaCare West Contra Costa is dedicated to providing quality primary health care, free of charge, to those in our community who lack health insurance and are unable to afford care. We are volunteer driven and donor supported, and rely on the energy, goodwill, and big hearts of the physicians, NPs, PAs, RNs, scribes, and Spanish interpreters who volunteer with us. Presently, we have three retired KP physicians and one hard working KP ER physician among our staff, who would be happy to answer your questions. We need your help to spread the word and continue supporting those in need.
